COLORIMETRIC METHOD FOR THE COUNTING OF MICROORGANISMS AND FOR THE CONTROL OF METABOLISM IN WASTEWATER

  • Institutions: ADER – CDTI

The main objective of the project is the realization of a simple and economical device to count microorganisms (bacteria and protozoa) and monitor their metabolism in the biological treatment of both industrial and urban wastewater treatment plants. The control of the microorganisms present in the water to be treated as well as the measurement of their metabolism is of vital importance for an adequate control of the biological treatment of treatment plants. Despite the fact that microbiological control in the treatment of wastewater is the most important factor, wastewater treatment plants in general do not have devices that allow this type of control to be carried out as the methods available for biological control are not suitable for normal use.
