OBTAINING NEW VARIETIES OF PRUNUS PERSICA L. (PEACH-NECTARINE-PARAGUAYO)

  • Field: Agriculture
  • Company: Viveros Provedo
  • Institutions: ADER

The project has 3 main objectives: 1. To obtain at least 2 types of peach and nectarine varieties which, at the time of ripening, have parameters of taste quality and resistance to manipulation that do not currently exist on the market.  2. Obtain a new product on the market such as a Paraguayan with nectarine skin, i.e. free of hair (glabra), and sufficiently resistant to transport and handling. 3. Genetic analysis of the varieties obtained, identification of “genetic fingerprints” (molecular DNI), using molecular techniques in order to be able to identify anywhere in the world the source of the varieties for their real protection.
