DEVELOPMENT AND EXPLOITATION OF THE GENETIC VARIABILITY OF THE TEMPRANILLO AND MALBEC GRAPE VARIETIES, FOR THEIR ADAPTATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE CONDITIONS

  • Field: Enology
  • Company: Bodegas Roda
  • Institutions: ADER – CDTI – IBEROEKA

The main objective of this project is to study the existing genetic diversity in Latin American “bandera” vine varieties, Tempranillo and Malbec, in order to select genotypes or lines more adapted to the conditions of climate change that allow the most sensitive clones to be replaced by the new environmental conditions. The project will obtain somatic variants of the most relevant varietals in Spain and Argentina and identify genotypes more likely adapted to the new environmental conditions, maintaining the basic genotype of the variety, its productive and oenological characteristics and its denomination.
